Ludlow Food Centre’s marmalade makers are celebrating for the tenth year in a row after scooping another three awards at this year’s Dalemain Marmalade Awards.

Local Shropshire artist Meg Hawkins has been exhibiting her work in Ludlow Food Centre’s gift shop gallery space since November 2017. Since May 2016 Ludlow Food Centre have set up a bi-monthly local artist’s space in their gift shop for them to sell their products. Ludlow Food Centre take no commission for any of the products sold, all they ask is that 10% of the artist’s takings get donated to their charity of the year.

As a finale to its 50th anniversary celebrations, the Ironbridge Gorge Museums are offering free admission to all children aged up to 16 years who are accompanied by a paying adult from now until 31st December 2017.

The Butchery department in Ludlow Food Centre, headed by John Brereton was announced as the ‘Food Hall Butchery Business of the Year 2017’ at the prestigious awards ceremony in London, coming out on top to beat competition from finalists Delifonseca Dockside in Liverpool and Fodder Food Hall in Harrogate.

Taking place from Monday 23 to Friday 27 October, little aviators can choose from a vast number of Airfix kits to build, including a 1:72 Mosquito, Sea Harrier, Mitsubishi Zero, Albatros or Sopwith Pup.

Aviation fans can experience the virtual skies in Shropshire next month as the Flight Sim 2017 event heads to the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford for a fifth consecutive year. Taking place on Saturday 7 October, aviation enthusiasts will enjoy a day packed with all the latest flight simulation software and the chance to test out their virtual flying skills.

Volunteers at a South Shropshire Country Park have been awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. The award, which was created in 2002 to mark the Monarch’s Golden Jubilee, is the equivalent of an MBE for voluntary groups and recognises excellence in activities carried out by community groups.

Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre, run by local charity Grow Cook Learn has the aim of connecting people to the food, history and landscape of the Shropshire Hills. They now have a pop up kitchen, kindly sponsored by Ludlow Food Festival and are making the most of it with popular cookery courses for adults and children with everything from Cooking with Dinosaurs for children to cooking Sizzling Somosas with adults.

A brand new heritage food and drink event ‘The Ginger and Spice Festival’ celebrating the culinary, heritage and historical links of spices, food and gingerbread, to the town of Market Drayton, Shropshire, will be taking place from Wednesday 27th September to Saturday 30th September 2017 for the first time.

Flog It, the popular BBC One antiques programme presented by Paul Martin will be holding a free valuation day at the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford on Thursday 5 October. The Bristol based BBC production recently transmitted its 1000th episode and the 17th series is currently being recorded. The show regularly achieves an audience of more than two million viewers in its weekday afternoon slot.
